What Benzac 10% Cream is and what it is used for
Benzac contains the active substance benzoyl peroxide and belongs to a category of medicines used for the local treatment of acne.
What you need to know before you use Benzac
Do not use Benzac:
- If you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Benzac .
Benzac is for external use only.
⦁ Avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes.
⦁ Do not apply the product on skin with superficial lesions (abrasions) or on irritated skin.
⦁ Avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays (tanning lamps) and the sun while applying the product.
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for cutaneous use can give rise to sensitization. If this happens, stop treatment immediately and consult your doctor to obtain appropriate therapy.
Children and adolescents
There are no data on efficacy and safety in children below 12 years.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Pregnancy
There are no data on the effects of benzoyl peroxide, the active substance of Benzac, in pregnancy.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use the drug only when clearly needed and under medical supervision.
Feeding time
It is not known whether benzoyl peroxide passes into breast milk. For this reason, if you are breastfeeding, use gel lotions based on this active ingredient with caution and do not apply the preparation on the breast to avoid accidental transfer to the breastfeeding.
How to use Benzac 10% Cream
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
⦁ Apply Benzac to the skin once or twice a day as needed.
⦁ Spread a small amount of product with your fingertips on the affected parts after having thoroughly cleaned them with a mild detergent and massaging lightly until
absorption.
⦁ Use a small amount of product each time.
⦁ Do not exceed the indicated doses without doctor's advice.
Possible side effects of Benzac 10% Cream
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very common side effects:
- Erythema (redness of the skin)
- Peeling of the skin (detachment of dead skin cells)
- Burning sensation on the skin
- Dryness of the skin
Common side effects:
- Irritation of the skin (irritative dermatitis from contact with the product)
- Itch
- Skin pain (pain, stinging)
Uncommon side effects:
- Allergic dermatitis (inflammation) from contact with the product
Undesirable effects with frequency not known
- Swelling (swelling) of the face and hypersensitivity reactions.

Active ingredient: 10 g of benzoyl peroxide
The other ingredients are: carbomer 940, metaailic copolymer, glycerin, edetate disodium, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, colloidal silica, propylene glycol, poloxamer 182, demineralized water.
