MACULAR active Food supplement of vitamin E, lutein and minerals with ginkgo biloba. Indicated in case of increased need for lutein, zinc, copper, selenium, vitamin E and flavonoids in order to improve the main biochemical processes related to correct retinal and macula lutea functionality.
Lutein
It manifests a dual activity:
- photo protection against blue light,
- neutralization of free radicals and reactive oxygen species.
The body is unable to synthesize Lutein and therefore must take it with the diet. In the eye it is deposited mainly in the central part of the retina (macula) and in the lens, where it is partly transformed into zeaxanthin.
Ginkgo biloba extract
The substances contained in the extract help to improve the blood flow at the retinal level and the perfusion speed, allowing a better concentration of Lutein, Vitamins and Oligoelements at the level of the retinal tissues, especially if there are metabolic and vascular disorders such as those of AMD. Ginkgo biloba extract for a scavenger effect helps to prevent endothelial damage at the level of the capillaries and neuronal damage at the level of photoreceptors caused by free radicals. It also helps improve blood flow by modulating vascular tone, helps reduce plasma viscosity and increase erythrocyte deformability for a haemorheological effect.
Zinc, Copper and Selenium
They have a metabolic effect and help activate the enzymatic complexes on which the body's protection system from oxidative stress is based.
Vitamin E
It is a fat-soluble antioxidant that helps protect the retinal photoreceptors from lipoperoxidation.
It does not contain gluten.
